Yalumba Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

The growing season consisted of a late winter break, but then very favourable
winter and spring rains, filling up the soil profiles with water, placing the vines
in excellent health with strong canopies and a balanced fruit-set. The summer
was dry, and pest and disease pressures were low. January was quite hot, then
February and March were mild with cool nights, allowing the grapes to develop
good colour and ripen quickly while retaining a good natural acidity.
This wine displays characters of bright blackcurrant, cedar, dark cherries with
a hint of mocha chocolate. An elegant palate structure and fine savoury tannins
mean the wine is terrific drinking now but will also develop classic aged
characters over the next 5 years.
